'Orphan Black' Sequel Series In The Works, Will Follow New Characters
AMC greenlit the sequel to 2013 fan favorite show 'Orphan Black', which aired for 5 seasons on BBC America. Reportedly, upcoming series will center on a whole new roster of characters, so the return of Tatiana Maslany's many personas is out of question.
Original series quickly achieved a cult following thanks to its ingenious plot, riddled with cliffhangers and unexpected turns, and Maslany's tour-de-force performance as Sarah Manning and her many clones. Continuation of the story 'Orphan Black: Echoes' was announced way back in 2019, and fans were excited to experience more stories from the universe. AMC needed three years to find a showrunner – 'Fear the Walking Dead ' writer Anna Fishko.
"I am thrilled to begin this new chapter in the world of Orphan Black. Creating a story that embraces the legacy of the original show has been so gratifying, and I'm excited for audiences to embark on a new journey that explores the big questions of what makes us who we are," Fishko told The Hollywood Reporter.
The series will be the latest addition to rapidly growing streaming library AMC+, cable network's answer to Netflix and Disney+. Joining such shows as 'Better Call Saul ' and 'The Walking Dead', newest chapter in the clone saga will undoubtedly attract its many fans to the streaming service.
'Orphan Black' fans, predictably, are pretty excited about the sequel. The unexpected announcement came as a pleasant surprise, and many fans took to Twitter to share their excitement.
