Only 4 Horror Shows on Netflix Have a Perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes Score
In search of some quality horror to watch? Look no further, check these 4 out.
Horror is one of those genres that can really go one of two ways. It can be amazing, or dreadful. And some classics are so dreadful that it makes them amazing. But to achieve a coveted 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes is a rare thing for any show. For a horror, it is almost unheard of. Well, these 4 have broken all the rules and set the horror bar high.
Covering animated, comedy, drama, and outright terror, these shows remind us that horror can take on many forms without losing any of its essence and core purpose. Scaring the hell out of the audience.
1. The Order
The Order can best be described as a super-dark version of Harry Potter, strictly for grown-ups. A college student joins a secret society that practices magic and finds himself pulled into terrifying mysteries and deep intrigue. Jake Manley turns in a brilliant performance in the lead role as Jack Morton, who ends up a member of both the Hermetic Order of the Blue Rose and the Knights of St Christopher. The more Jack learns, the more frightening secrets he discovers. His family’s dark history and an underground battle between werewolves and the magic users are not things he is at all prepared for.
2. Red Rose
If there ever was a show to warn about the dangers of being too obsessed with your smartphone, this is it. Red Rose is a British horror drama that focuses on a group of friends who have just graduated from high school. Their plan is simple. To have one last enjoyable and carefree summer before college and adulthood take over. As they navigate relationships with family, romance, and each other, we learn more about each. The cast is so wonderfully diverse in this show. But one by one, they download an app called Red Rose which starts to make creepy and terrifying demands of them. They soon learn that this is going to be a summer they will never forget. If they manage to survive, that is…
3. Castlevania: Nocturne
Do not let the fact that this show is animated fool you. It is brilliant, eerie, and truly frightening. Based on the popular video game series and a sequel to the Castlevania animated show, it takes place in late 18th century France. A humble slave girl and her friends are tasked with what seems like the impossible. Prevent the rise of a vampire god and stop the end of the world. Surrounded by brilliant supporting characters on both sides, who are voice acted to utter perfection, and with writing that is just stellar, this one is absolutely not to be missed.
4. Crazyhead
Crazyhead is a British horror comedy series that will have you laughing as much as cringing. Reluctant demon hunters do what must be done, while juggling real life and superpowers they simply do not want. We are introduced to seers, who are able to hold an edge over supernatural creatures thanks to their unique ability. But being a seer is hardly everyone’s dream. The angst is brilliant here, and the cast performs their roles so perfectly that you cannot help but want to get on board for every single new adventure. Bafflingly, the series only ran for one season before being cancelled so there is a very small amount of it to enjoy. Be sure to check it out, you will not be disappointed.
