Yellowstone takes family drama to a whole new level. The neo-western has featured more than a few clashes between the prominent members of the Dutton family over four seasons worthy of a soap opera.

In the first couple of seasons of Yellowstone , the family drama primarily revolved around the patriarch – John Dutton (Kevin Costner ) and his oldest son, Kayce (Luke Grimes). However, the other two siblings of the Dutton dynasty – Jamie (Wes Bentley) and Beth (Kelly Reilly) – were never far out of the picture.

Beth and Jamie have always conflicted, particularly since the start of season four. If memory recall, the Dutton family experienced a traumatic attack at the end of season three. What's worse is Beth suggests that Jamie was behind the crime since he was the only member of the family not targeted.

The bad blood between Jamie and Beth runs deep considering the only daughter (and favored child) of John Dutton holds a grudge she is unwilling to forgive. It appears Jamie's involvement in Beth's sterilization is something she can never get over. So much so, that season four ends with a cliffhanger suggesting Beth has new leverage over her sibling rival.

The hints the writers of Yellowstone left at the conclusion of season four have not sat well with audiences. It's true, as a surprising number of Redditors have been outspoken regarding how much they despise Beth. There are even several users in the thread that blatantly state they would rather see Beth dead than continue watching her antics. As one Redditor summarized, hopefully, Jamie kills Beth, or Beth kills Jamie. Otherwise, the plot line between the two characters is becoming outlandish and predictable.

While not every fan of Yellowstone may share the same disdain for Beth, she is clearly the least likable of all the main characters. Naturally, Beth has flaws from her broken relationship with her late mother to substance abuse problems. She's fiercely loyal albeit to the point of the characteristic being a flaw. Beth desperately wants to preserve the Dutton legacy and she'll manipulate anyone in the process to maintain those family interests.

The only issue is that Beth too frequently takes out her resentment on Jamie and that is where a lot of the disgruntlement on Reddit begins. It appears based on user comments that Jamie is far more likable, and thus Beth's constant mistreatment of him makes her an easy villain. For example, it's understandable to see why Beth has some resentment toward Jamie. However, her insistence on destroying his life – season after season – and blaming him for everything is getting redundant.

John, the eldest Dutton, is the crux. His biases for Beth are obvious yet John has also demonstrated his loyalty and commitment to Jamie. The second son of John and Evelyn practically became a lawyer to save the family. Then, he murdered a reporter and covered it up to further protect Beth and the patriarch.

Now, we'll have to see what fate has in store for Beth and Jamie in season five, which premieres on The Paramount Network, November 13.
