That would be the most over-the-top comedic bit.

If you've ever been accused of not taking your life seriously, the good news is that you're not alone.

Even the most successful, talented, and popular people sometimes do things for fun and often seem to regret those decisions. Fortunately, they sometimes avoid these mistakes by changing their minds at the last minute.

One example of a perfectly great relationship that almost turned disastrous for the fun of it is Michael Cera and his Scott Pilgrim vs. the World co-star and ex-girlfriend Aubrey Plaza.

Arguably two of the funniest people in Hollywood, the two almost got married in their early twenties, but for all the wrong reasons.

This marriage was never meant to be a declaration of love between the two, but rather an ongoing joke. As Cera admitted in his recent interview with Rolling Stone, they were ready to tie the knot in order to fully commit to the real-life comedic stunt they came out with:

“Well, we were driving through Vegas, and we almost just spontaneously took a detour and got married. <...> Like something where you get a certificate. I think the idea was to then get a divorce right away, so we could call each other “my ex-husband” and “my ex-wife” at like … 20.”

Although it would have been incredibly funny and a story that would have been told for ages, it would have done even more damage to the two actors' young and blossoming relationship, so it was the right decision to leave it out.

Besides, the titles "ex-wife" and "ex-husband" would have become a lot less exciting in a few years.

If you want to see what Michael Cera is up to today, you can check out Black Mirror season 6, where he stars as Beppe alongside Salma Hayek in the first episode, Joan Is Awful. The show is available to stream on Netflix right now.
