Like many of his co-stars, Jensen Ackles was given the task of bulking up for the role of Soldier Boy in The Boys, and the actor did just that. However, he was shocked to find out later on the set that all of his efforts could have been saved if he'd only known a trick.

Jensen Ackles, who joined the cast of the show in season 3 as Soldier Boy, America's greatest superhero before the rise of Homelander. The heavy title came with its own set of demands, including excessive training.

During a video with his co-stars for Entertainment Weekly, he explained how new the role was to him, and how his more seasoned co-stars just found it amusing:

“The physical preparation was something I have never done before, but, you know, I think it helped me to get there mentally. <...> I get to set, and Anthony [Starr] is like: ‘Why didn’t you just tell them to add muscles to the suit, bro?’ And it just deflated me, just crushed me. All that effort, and it was for, really, nothing,” Ackles said.

Is Soldier Boy Returning for Season 4?

Right now, there's no official news about Jensen Ackles reprising his role as Soldier Boy for The Boys season 4, even though fans are craving to see more of him on their screens after his hilarious Gen V cameo. Besides, Homelander still needs to be at least a little humbled from time to time.
