Silo is many things, but the low effort is definitely not one of them.

It feels like the entertainment industry took a break from post-apocalyptic releases for a while after COVID. Now, however, the fan-favorite survivalist settings are back and stronger than ever, with The Walking Dead: Dead City and Silo hitting screens to great acclaim.

Silo, being an original TV series and not a spin-off, took a riskier route. The show focuses on a giant silo built to protect humanity from the toxic and ruined world on the surface. The show has received much praise from both critics and audiences for its world-building and the performance of its lead actress, Rebecca Ferguson.

Now that the series has been renewed for a second season due to the positive reception of the first, the actress herself is happy to share the excitement and explain what she enjoyed most about Silo from a professional standpoint.

Ferguson talked about her experience in an interview with Variety:

“When I walked on set, I realized how much they put into this show. It’s love, but it’s also care. They could green screen and blue screen this, but they’re not. They built it,” the actress said. “They are letting us create these entire worlds. It is phenomenal, and for us actors, it is everything. <...> To walk into a world of TV shows that I thought weren’t going to be the scale that we have managed to create here, it blows my mind every day.”

Of course, it wouldn't be surprising to see a smaller scale of production on a TV series after starring in movies with such huge productions, but Silo didn't seem to disappoint the actress in the least. Nor will it disappoint its viewers, with very promising prospects for the upcoming season.

According to the author of the original books, the second season is set to come out in 2024. Until the sequel arrives, you are welcome to re-watch the first season.

All 10 episodes are already available to stream on Apple TV Plus.
