The Teen Wolf series was undoubtedly one of the most popular teen dramas of its time. But as is common for many long-running shows, not all episodes are created equal.

In fact, some have resulted in little to no plot development or any real purpose, leaving viewers wondering why they were included in the show. And there's one episode in particular that fans think had zero reasons to happen, as it made no sense in the grand scheme of things.

Throughout its 6-season run, Teen Wolf delivered a staggering 100 episodes. Yet through all the supernatural mystery, some episodes ended up having less importance than others, and one such episode is "Motel California," which is episode 6 of Season 3.

Now, in case you don't remember what exactly went down, let's do a quick recap.

Due to a delayed cross-country meet, Scott and others end up being stranded at a mysterious motel for the night. During their time there, they go through a series of bizarre experiences, which lead them to think they're targeted by a killer responsible for the recent sacrifice murders. As it turned out later, the culprit behind the sacrifices was the Darach, a dark Druid, who had one goal in mind – to garner enough power to kill the alpha pack.

While the episode certainly had some great character moments, some fans are convinced it had no real basis for the simple reason that there was no clear explanation for why the Darach would want to target the group.

Initially, it seemed like the werewolves were next in line to be sacrificed. But as we later found out, that was not the case, and there ended up being no obvious reasons provided that could clarify why the Darach went after them.

Fans were left wondering if the werewolves were, in fact, meant to be sacrificed at all or if there was another reason they missed for the Darach to influence them. Some viewers also point out that even if this episode was intended to be a red herring, it's still unclear why all this effort was necessary, as it didn't advance the plot.

This episode is an example of how even popular shows can make mistakes when it comes to writing episodes that have no relevance or purpose for their overall narrative arc. It serves as a reminder that in addition to great cinematography, writers should always strive for quality over quantity when it comes to creating content.
