Even Teen Wolf Movie Cast Got No Clue Who Derek's Baby Momma Is
In case you were hoping for some answers.
Teen Wolf: The Movie has been pretty merciless to the canon of the TV show, driving fans crazy with the breakups of couples and the absence of certain characters. Instead, it decided to introduce some new characters...completely out of the blue and without explanation.
This is what happened to Eli, Derek's 15-year-old son, who is... just there, apparently. The movie never explains who his mother is, nor does Teen Wolf creator Jeff Davis.
"The decision to not reveal is that it's a story for another time," Davis told TVLine. "I'm a child of single parents, and I really gravitate towards telling single-parent stories because I know that struggle personally."
Tyler Posey, who portrays Scott, was also kept in the dark about Eli's background.
"I asked Jeff as he writing, assuming that the mom was going to be in this, and he was like, I don't know,'" Posey recalled. "I was like, 'How do you not know?' That would have been such a cool storyline to add to this, but it also would have made the movie another hour in length."
It seems that Davis is trying to set the stage for more projects in the future, but fans are not overly enthusiastic about it.
"Eli's mother being unknown, bringing up Stiles a million times but not coming up with anything to explain what happened to him, killing off Derek just to create a stupid backstory for Eli for his flop spinoff ... when you knock on Jeff Davis' hollow head, it [echoes] for miles," Twitter user zaynstiIinskis said.
The fact that so many things were left unsaid is driving the fandom crazy instead of creating the tension that Davis apparently hoped for.
While the future of the Teen Wolf universe remains unclear, the movie is currently available for streaming on Paramount Plus.
