One Supernatural Scene That Proved Jensen Ackles Was Hands Down Best Actor of the Cast
That's when we knew we were all up for a huge emotional rollercoaster.
Summary:
- The CW's Supernatural remains one of the network's most iconic and cult TV shows
- Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, Mark Sheppard and others proved many times they were capable of delivering compelling performances as actors
- However, Jensen Ackles, who portrayed Dean Winchester, remains arguably the best actor in the cast — at least according to fans
- One of the earliest dramatic Dean scenes proves it
Let's face it, Supernatural has never been the epitome of quality television, racking up Emmy nominations left and right. Still, it remains a huge part of the TV culture, with people discussing the possibility of a sixteenth season (please don't) up to these days.
We promise this is not yet another article toying with the idea of bringing Supernatural back. Rather, it is a sweet trip down the memory lane to take a look back at, if we may, the road so far.
Who Is the Best Actor in Supernatural?
If you ask Supernatural fans this, the opinions will most likely differ; however, hardly anyone can argue with the fact that Jensen Ackles, who portrayed Dean Winchester throughout the series, is definitely the frontrunner in this race.
In the later seasons, when things took a darker turn and the Winchester brothers jumped from one apocalypse to another, Ackles proved his range time and time again. Deanmon alone was a huge era for the Supernatural fandom, albeit he reigned for just a couple of episodes.
But the very first scene that ultimately let us know just how good of an actor Ackles was happened way back in season 4 episode 10, titled Heaven and Hell.
A little recap: Dean Winchester has just returned from Hell, where he spent four agonizing months that felt like an eternity for him. The rest is history, and Ackles is the best person to deliver it once again.
This is one of the first (but definitely not the last) scene that Supernatural fans bring up when praising Ackles' acting.
"He had Dean's character down from the second he appeared on screen, his comic acting is brilliant and when he does the sadder scenes he breaks your heart," Redditor Its_Mrs_Nesbitt said.
Comedy scenes with Dean were yet another staple of Supernatural. From the "pudding" and "that was scary" sequences to the entirery of Dog Dean Afternoon, Ackles proved his range was one of the biggest gems for The CW's iconic series.
Will There Be Supernatural Season 16?
Amid all this season 16 talk, one might fall for the feeling that The CW or some other network has already confirmed working on Supernatural's revival, but so far, it's not true, at least not officially.
The most recent Supernatural-related project was Ackles' spinoff The Winchesters that told the story of Mary and John Winchesters when they were young (and yes, Ackles himself also appeared in the series), so in case you still have a Dean Winchester-shaped hole to fill, you know what to binge.
