One Succession Mystery Even Writers Don't Know the Answer To
This one might be even more important than the actual succession.
If you have been watching Succession all this time, you know that the show's core message has very little to do with the succession itself.
In fact, with Logan Roy alive and relatively well throughout seasons 1 through 3, the succession was only in question in the minds of the Roy siblings, while viewers explored the twisted nature of their family.
There is no doubt that Logan Roy's abuse and cruelty towards his children has spread and made them as flawed as he is. Each in their own way, they continue to carry out their father's sins even after his death, making them all his unique heirs.
With all of the secrets being revealed and all of the questions being answered as season 4 nears its finale, there is one that is lingering in the minds of viewers.
As confirmed on screen, Connor is the oldest of Logan Roy's children. Kendall, judging by his actions and position in the family, is the middle brother. And what about Shiv and Roman?
Well, both of them, according to the fans, exude the same "youngest child" energy. They're both very spoiled, they're both very sure that the world revolves around them, and if they're not being entertained, they're going to rebel.
Until recently, fans thought they knew who was the youngest, based on the photos they'd seen in the background.
However, the details from Jesse Armstrong's book Succession: Season One: The Complete Scripts, which is available for pre-order but won't be released until July 25th, states that even in the writers' room, there is no consensus on this.
Technically, Sarah Snook, who portrays Shiv, is younger than Kieran Culkin, who portrays Roman, making her the canonically younger sibling.
However, Roman's attitude implied that he was the youngest, so there was no hard and fast answer.
Your best bet would be to go with a headcanon you have for this, or just imagine them as twins. This will surely not only answer the question but make all re-watches at least 50% more fun.
