There are lovely and lovable characters, each with their own perks and flaws... and then there's this guy.

Schitt's Creek is not the show that had many people clashing online over whether this or that particular character even deserves their screen time. A comfort sitcom with a perfect balance of comedy and drama, this show hardly has characters that fans can't stand... except for Mutt Schitt.

If there is anyone truly annoying in the show, it's him: the guy who has as much personality as the trash he so loves to sort.

"He's so boring and one-dimensional, and doesn't have much of a personality. I don't really know why they made him part of the first two seasons, when it's literally just Alexis pining over him, only to date him for like two episodes and their breakup is confusing to me," Redditor poilane said.

The fact that Mutt didn't seem to be interested in Alexis also drives many fans crazy: not because everyone necessarily needs to be madly in love with her, but due to the fact that she deserved someone better, according to the fandom.

However, many people believe that Mutt was at least good for her character development.

"She needed to date him in order to realize how boring it was in 1 dimension. People love to hate different characters in the show, but none of them are expendable," Redditor FragilousSpectunkery noted.

Other fans joked that they lost interest in Mutt in the exact same moment Alexis did: when he shaved off his beard. Well, fair enough.

It looks like even the Schitt's Creek showrunners did not click with Mutt's character, since he did not receive as much screen time in later seasons, only appearing on the background occasionally. At the point when Alexis grew up enough as a character to no longer chase someone just because they're hot, Mutt stepped into the shadows. And it's not like many Schitt's Creek fans are ready to complain about that.

Schitt's Creek aired on CBC from 2015 to 2020, lasting for six seasons.
