One Scene In Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Finale That Hit Fans Hard
Midge Maisel: busy bee or Mrs. Lonely?
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel ended its fifth season on a high note. The final episode, titled Four Minutes, was truly breathtaking, as it highlighted all the things and storylines that fans had been so eager to learn about in previous episodes.
Midge's "big break" on national TV, her reconciliation with Susie, her absolutely unimaginable success, and finally getting recognition from both of her parents for the things she is doing in life. That’s just a part of things that happened in a more than an hour long episode.
Most of the scenes there were heartwarming or funny, but there was a particular scene that somehow was the one that made fans ponder a bit about how Miriam's life actually turned out.
It was a flash forward to 2005 where Midge is shown with her producers and managers talking about her weekly and monthly schedule. And during the business meeting, she discovered that she had some sort of day off.
There were no professional plans or anything else she could work on scheduled for that particular Thursday. It seemed to bother Midge, and the fans could not help but notice.
“She seemed concerned about not having something that day. She's very career driven and I know she is able to say what's on her mind and has the opportunity to break rules in her job, but I also remember she liked to do other things as well. Why wouldn't she want to visit her kids or Susie? As exciting as it is to see her success it almost seems like she's trying to distract herself,” Redditor Fun-Atmosphere-9130 said.
The fans on Reddit were discussing the risen question and came up with different answers. But most of them thought that it was because she was either bored or just lonely.
“Midge sacrificed her personal life for her professional life. She was aware it would always be that way when she left Benjamin. She's had a great life but she worked her a** off 25/8 to get where she is, so she wouldn't even know what to do with herself in her spare time,” Redditor ekimsal said.
Well, frankly, it seemed to many of us that this kind of ending for Midge was actually inevitable. Remember the famous "All Alone" song that Lenny Bruce performed? Well, it turns out he was onto something.
