You'll never believe what exactly was in the way of him getting the roles.

Actors and actresses in Hollywood have always been held to extremely unrealistic body standards. Unfortunately, no matter how many years have passed, these are still very much in place and affecting the careers of young talent.

Almost every major celebrity who is now considered iconic has faced horrible comments about their appearance at some point.

And some of them were really ridiculous.

You would never think that someone like Chris Hemsworth would be discriminated against because of his looks. The man who portrays a literal Scandinavian god could not possibly look anything but perfect from any angle.

However, even he had something that was quite a flaw in the eyes of casting directors.

The actor revealed his problems in an interview with RadioTimes:

"There are certainly things I've wanted to go up for which I've been totally wrong for, physically. And I normally lie about my height and say I'm shorter. But it can go two ways. The brief for the audition for Thor said: must be over 6'1, which I'd never seen before!"

Turns out, even the Marvel superheroes have something that can potentially keep them from getting the part. Since Chris Hemsworth is 6'3", it's hard to imagine how difficult auditions are for 6'5" Lee Pace or 6'4" Ben Affleck.

It's very hard to imagine why an actor's height would be a problem if there's no importance to the plot of the character being short, but the world of Hollywood is rarely logical.

Fortunately, right now Chris Hemsworth has found his calling in the role of Thor, and audiences appreciate his physique down to the last centimeter.

Hopefully, we'll see more of Hemsworth in a variety of roles in the future. For now, you can enjoy his performance in the Thor franchise as each movie is available to stream on Disney Plus.
