If only showrunners cared to listen to the fanbase.

On a show like General Hospital, which has been on the air every day for more than 60 years, recasts are as inevitable as characters leaving the show for good.

The show's fan base is never against the change, in fact, they almost always welcome it, hoping that someone new taking the place of someone older can bring new drama.

Of course, it must be hard to come up with new ideas and not be repetitive in such a long and complex story, but in the end, it all comes down to the main parameter of success: either the audience enjoys watching it or they don't.

Right now, General Hospital's audience is stuck somewhere in the middle, with an arrow constantly pointing from one side to the other.

As many annoying storylines and decisions as there are, many fans have nostalgic feelings for the show and are not ready to let go. Instead, they're trying to figure out ways to make each episode fun again.

And while most of that has a lot to do with the writers, there are a few actors that General Hospital viewers are ready to say goodbye to: Laura Wright, who has portrayed Carly Corinthos since 2005, and Chad Duell, one of the many actors who have portrayed Michael Corinthos.

While fans are sure that the recasts would do the show good, they are just as sure that they won't happen. This makes the news of other recasts, especially those that were not called for, even more annoying.

Recently, it was announced that Lexi Ainsworth, who portrayed Kristina Davis, would be leaving the show, but Kristina will remain and will be played by Kate Mansi, who viewers may recognize from Days of Our Lives.

For many months, fans have been demanding that Kristina get more attention and that her storyline get more development, but that never happened.

It would be nice to think that the recasting would lead to a positive change for the character, but no one dares to be that optimistic.

In the end, the recast feels more like another loss of talent for the cast than an exciting new chapter.

If you want to see the new Kristina in action, tune in to ABC Monday through Friday to catch her first appearance on General Hospital.
