One Piece Showrunner Is All In For a Spinoff, And Character Choice Is a Chef’s Kiss
The news will make you more excited about the spinoff than the OG show. Yes, it's possible.
We still can't believe it, but Netflix 's One Piece adaptation is truly a worthy, fun, and exciting project. And if you thought the showrunners wouldn't consider a spinoff almost immediately after the show's success, think again.
Matt Owens, co-showrunner of One Piece, recently answered fan questions in a Reddit AMA, and one of the questions was whether any spinoffs were planned, and Owens responded with the following:
“I would love for that to be the case! There are so many stories we have yet to fully dive into. I'd love to do a young Mihawk series. Seeing his rise through the world, interacting with other prominent figures from the past.”
And let's face it, this is exactly the kind of news that fans of One Piece would like to receive.
One Piece first and foremost captivates with its bright characters, and what's more, there is a real chemistry between them from the very first scenes. The writers and actors have done an excellent job of bringing the characters to life.
The main cast of the Straw Hat Pirates is particularly impressive – the characters seem to be taken straight out of an anime, but at the same time are revealed in a new way.
However, aside from the main characters, perhaps the most charismatic was Dracule Mihawk, a kind of pirate version of Dracula. The actor playing the role, Steven John Ward, transformed into an arrogant and elegant pirate whose every move is dangerous and deadly.
Moreover, the most exciting fight scenes in One Piece involve Mihawk. There are some stylish pirate introductions, and Mihawk punctuates his debut with spectacular fight, demolishing his enemies with sharp, powerful, and serpentine moves.
Fans were most captivated by the fight with Roronoa Zoro, who dreams of taking Mihawk's place as the best swordsman. The directors of the episode have accurately recreated the duel scene from the anime and filled it with some new exciting stunts.
So far, the chances of a spinoff are more than illusory, but Mihawk has made fans fall in love with him so much that there is no doubt about success if the spinoff happens.
But what will definitely happen is the second season of One Piece – there is no exact premiere date yet, but we, like you, are looking forward to it and will keep you updated.
