Even though Netflix's One Piece is an adaptation, it surely does have a lot of its own authentic things.

After the success of Netflix 's One Piece live-action adaptation, it's only fair that Iñaki Godoy, the young Mexican actor behind Monkey D. Luffy, rises to international stardom real quick.

His adorable portrayal of the future king of the pirates was a huge part of the series success, and it's safe to say that it is the actor's first truly big project. Just like pretty much everyone else from the cast, Godoy auditioned for the role; and it turns out that a certain moment from his audition tape made it into the show almost unchanged!

When the One Piece cast sat down together to watch each other's audition tapes, Godoy went first. Remember when Luffy sneaks inside the Marine base in order to steal a map to the Grand Line? This is where his path crossed once again with that of Roronoa Zoro, who was arrested and left tied up in the sun.

The two had a small conversation, getting to know each other. After Luffy gave Zoro an optimistic speech (as he always does with pretty much everyone), he escaped the base through a hatch which he asked to "close this behind me."

This exact moment was in the audition; and this was exactly what Godoy did in the show!

The rest of the cast thought it was "so cute" that the little banter made it into the show with little to no changes; even though some of Godoy's audition performance may seem adorably cringeworthy. For instance, he playfully calls Zoro "pirate hunter" with a childish grimace, which caused the entire cast to laugh.

One Piece has been quickly and predictably renewed for a second season, with its premiere date yet to be scheduled. However, we might as well be preparing ourselves for many more chapters of the story to come — thanks to the series creator Eiichiro Oda, there's plenty of source material for that.
