Here comes modern classics of the horror genre.

If you like to get your nerves tickled by a scary movie and want to watch a bunch of them in a row, we’ve got some good news for you. The most chilling horror trilogy of the 21st century finally arrives on Netflix, and it has no deal with Final Destination or Paranormal Activity and The Ring franchises, it’s something even better than these ones.

Back in 2013, the world saw the first installment of this movie universe. Set in the 1970s, the movie focused on Lorraine and Ed, the duo of paranormal investigators on their way to solve the case of an isolated farmhouse that is haunted by supernatural creatures.

They are quick to realize that the house has its own macabre past, the aftermath of which is now tormenting the Perrons, who have just moved in there. Lorraine and Ed’s investigation offered the audience a number of nail-biting turns and a terrifying finale.

The film was not only a major commercial success, grossing $319 million against its $20 million budget, but also a critical one, and it’s proved by its decent score of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes. It all allowed its creators to expand the franchise in the sequels.

The second chapter, released in 2016, successfully continued the trend set by the first movie, as it also followed the haunted house’s investigation, provided by Lorraine and Ed. 2021’s sequel made a far cry from this formula, even though it had the same leads.

All in all, these movies make a perfect trilogy that is considered one of the best series in the history of horror movies. Veterans of the genre have already guessed we’re talking about The Conjuring movies, created by James Wan, the master of modern horrors.

Famous as the co-creator of the Saw and Insidious franchises too, the filmmaker managed to combine unique atmosphere, sound and creature design, that all work for the movies’ wholesomeness.

“He's extremely talented in building up tension in the atmosphere using sound <...> and lingering shots on things,” says Redditor @static_ages.

Check out Wan’s notorious trilogy, as The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2 and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It will become available on Netflix already on June 1.
