Fortunately, the writers didn't listen to the actor who wanted to tease the audience some more.

Blue Bloods has been on CBS for more than 12 years and has managed to keep things fresh for viewers who apparently wouldn't mind sitting through 13 more seasons.

The key to such a success has definitely been its focus on the Reagan clan, each representing a different branch of the law.

While the family members get involved in various exciting cases, they are also very human characters who support each other, work through personal issues, and fall in love.

The youngest Reagan sibling, Jamie, played by Will Estes, had many romantic storylines throughout the series. But the biggest was of course with his current wife, Eddie Janko-Reagan, portrayed by Vanessa Ray.

Since Season 4, when Jamie and Eddie were first partnered in the 12th Precinct, fans couldn't help but notice their undeniable chemistry together. Since then, viewers have been on a wild ride with their romantic arc.

For about 5 years, the two did their best not to act on their mutual attraction for fear of ruining their friendship and partnership.

Despite this, there were many characters who assumed they were a couple, and probably all viewers were rooting for them to get together. Will Estes, however, didn't share that sentiment.

In an interview with Glitter, he shared that, unlike Blue Bloods fans, he was not on board with the idea of Jamie and Eddie getting together.

"I hated the idea. I thought it would be the end of the storyline, and we would be missing the lesson from shows like The X-Files– where the two characters wanting to be together but not wanting to cross the line provided tension and drama to explore," Estes explained.

Apparently, the actor wanted to continue to tease the viewers with the palpable chemistry that was not being acted out. Luckily, the writers had a different opinion and the romance happened, which shook things up for the procedural and made Eddie a new member of the Reagan family.

Now even Will thinks it was a good plot development.

The actor added that he enjoyed working with Vanessa Ray, with whom he spends a lot of time on set. They are good friends and understand each other intuitively. And they have a good laugh every now and then.
