One Major Game of Thrones Character Won't Return in Jon Snow's Spinoff
Kit Harington's character will be on his own in this one.
As we all know, a Game of Thrones spinoff about Jon Snow (Kit Harington) is currently in the works. While little is known about this spinoff so far, there are speculations abound, regarding all sorts of details. Including actors, who might be returning for the new show.
Well, one actor probably won't be returning, and he has explained why. Jacob Anderson who played Daenerys' loyal soldier Grey Worm throughout five seasons of Game of Thrones says that he does not expect to reprise his role in the spinoff.
According to Anderson, it doesn't make sense for the characters given how they left things:
"I think it'd be pretty tense if he did," he said in an interview (via). "I think the only way that Grey Worm would show up in that show is to kill Jon Snow."
This is absolutely unsurprising. When we last saw Grey Worm, he was demanding justice – meaning, Jon's head – after Jon killed Queen Daenerys (Emilia Clarke ).
Grey Worm, the Master of War under Daenerys, was wholly on board with her plans and after her death he was understandably enraged at Jon. He only barely agreed to drop the matter after Jon Snow was punished by being sent back north, beyond the Wall – and perhaps only because Grey Worm was not aware that this was barely a punishment for Jon, for whom those unhospitable lands became his real home. Grey Worm, meanwhile, departed Westeros for Naath with Unsullied and Dothraki soldiers.
"That was quite a significant condition of [Jon] living," Anderson continued, "was that I don't ever want to see your face again. I'm gonna go my way. And you're gonna go your way."
So, basically, not only Grey Worm might want to kill Jon Snow if they ever meet again – that, actually, could be a plot hook – but they went in completely different directions on completely different businesses, and they have no interested in ever meeting again. "I'd be very surprised if we saw Grey Worm again," Anderson added.
As he would have been first to know about being invited to play in the new show, we can assume that the showrunners are following roughly the same logic.
