What can be better than a great TV love story? Unfortunately, that's not what the writers of Grey's Anatomy thought when they killed off yet another potential couple.

Meredith Grey had suffered enough in Grey's Anatomy series. She lost her husband, her best friends, had a miscarriage and even almost drowned in the ocean, but still managed to find the strength to get up and go to work to save lives.

Needless to say that Meredith is a fan favorite character, so the audience really wanted her to be happy in the end, after all the things she's been through.

That's why when Cormac Hayes appeared in the series, fans finally could sign with relief.

Hayes was an absolutely charming, handsome man, and his accent was meant to break some fans' hearts. It was obvious that they had chemistry. And fans seem to know the secret of their immediate bonding.

"They were bonded by familiar trauma. They both lost the love of their life, single parents, doctors..they should have given them the happily ever after we want for Mer, and written them off together.

I don't know what that would have looked like, but hey both deserved it, and we deserved it. I didn't watch this long just for Meredith to leave like that. I was so disappointed," Reddit user Macgil7 said.

It was so hard for fans to get over with that because they claimed it was the first time after Derek's death that Meredith actually seemed to be that into someone.

And this relationship could have worked out easily. With so much in common, they would comfort each other and make each other happy.

Still, fans were disappointed, but not surprised, as they say the writers ruin most couples eventually.

"Just another plot they threw away with no explanation. The writers are so bad with starting things they don't finish," Reddit user beito14159 said.

Grey's Anatomy, currently in its 19th season, will return with a new episode on March 23.
