One DC Character Jacob Elordi Found Too Dark To Even Read For

With the film premiering a year after another biopic focusing on the life of the King of Rock and Roll himself, Elvis, Elordi had to face comparisons to Austin Butler 's performance.

However, he once again proved his talent and received a lot of well-deserved praise, with many critics predicting some nominations in the upcoming awards season.

What no one knew was that the actor was on the verge of landing another big role. Although this time the character would be fictional, the importance he holds for many people around the world could easily be compared to that of Elvis.

Jacob Elordi Superman Audition

As Elordi himself revealed in the recent GQ interview, he was once invited to read for Superman. Although he didn't specify the time period of the events, it's safe to assume that he was one of the options James Gunn had in mind for the new Clark Kent after the decision was made to recast Henry Cavill.

As we now know, the role went to David Corenswet. However, it wasn't a failed audition that caused Elordi to drop out of the hunt. It turned out that the actor wasn't interested in reading for a character with such a dark history from the beginning.

“I like to make what I would watch, and I get very restless watching those movies. <...> They asked me to read for Superman. That was immediately, ‘No, thank you.’ That’s too much. That’s too dark for me,” Elordi said.

As well as Jacob Elordi fits the role, the actor's authenticity is truly admirable. A character as iconic as Superman has to be portrayed with the dedication of a true fan, and if the love for the genre isn't there, then it's only wise to focus on other opportunities. Besides, the newfound recognition would only open more doors for the young actor to explore.
