Is there any real chance to still save Marina Thompson?

One of the great things about the Bridgerton series, which has managed to attract not only new viewers, but also dedicated book readers, is the number of very sensible changes that have been made to the adapted story. While some changes are not that big or important, others play a huge role in the further development of the plot.

The whole character of Marina Thompson was very much elevated from what readers knew of her from the books. Although she kept her name and the general premise of her story, Shodaland decided to focus on her and develop her much more than she was initially.

Marina became a central character in season 1 and continued to evolve throughout season 2. Losing her lover in the war and finding out she's pregnant before she's married, her story is already one of the most tragic in the Bridgerton universe.

Society would never accept her unless she acted and found herself a husband, so she did and tried to make it work with Colin Bridgerton. However, when the truth about her position was revealed by Lady Whistledown, she was trapped and almost forced to marry her lover's brother, Philip Crane, who came to her rescue and dutifully protected her.

Although viewers don't really know what fate awaits Marina Thompson in Bridgerton season 3, it's safe to say it won't be a happy one. Whether or not the show will go the same route as the books and have Marina take her own life remains to be seen, but either way, the prospect of being trapped in an unhappy marriage for the rest of your life isn't at all desirable.

One thing that could have changed everything for Marina, and saved another character from constantly fearing for his life, would have been to make her marry Lord Wetherby. You may not really remember his character, but you probably can't forget Henry Granville, an artist who is forced to hide his true love under the cover of a very heterosexual marriage with Lucy Granville.

Lord Wetherby, as his lover, could have been the perfect match for Marina. By creating the same kind of mutually beneficial marriage that the Granvilles have, they'd both be free from society's judgment and could afford to live honest and joyful lives without sacrifice.

If you want to see what Bridgerton season 3 has in store for Marina Thompson and her newfound husband Philip Crane, keep an eye out for the release date announcement.
