One Amazon Prime Thriller of 2024 Stephen King Needs You to Watch
Check out if you missed it.
With so much content coming our way from major studios, TV channels and streaming platforms, it is almost impossible to catch up on everything you might’ve wanted to watch.
Some movies and TV shows will inevitably slip through cracks and you may never remember them again.
2024 alone has been a year of many exciting thriller, sci-fi and horror premieres, so it is no wonder the viewers simply didn’t have enough time to watch them all. Amazon Prime’s action thriller Road House, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, is one of those releases you may want to come back to.
Is Road House (2024) Good?
Released back in March of this year, Road House stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Dalton, an ex-UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer at a road house in the Florida Keys. As you can imagine, things pick up later to put Dalton right in the middle of some heavy action. So if you like your movies fast paced and visually impressive, Road House would be a perfect choice.
Aside from Gyllenhaal, the film also stars Irish former UFC champion Conor McGregor in his debut role as Knox, so it could be an interesting find for UFC fans around the world. Whether you support McGregor or not, it would be interesting to see him in front of the camera in a completely unfamiliar setting.
While the majority of viewers weren't too convinced that the late 80's classic starring none other than Patrick Swayze needed a revival, Stephen King, an author of the most popular horror bestsellers, praised the new movie on his X (formerly Twitter) account and urged his followers to see it as well.
The movie didn't do as well as expected. Overall, Road House received positive reviews, with 60% of critics recommending it on Rotten Tomatoes, but many viewers still feel that the first version is far superior to the remake. McGregor’s seemingly unsuccessful attempt at acting also left a lot to be desired.
If you are interested in seeing the Road House remake in 2024, directed by Doug Liman and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, you can stream the movie on Prime Video.
