Olivia Cooke’s 88%-Rated Comedy Thriller Is Must-Watch While You Wait for HotD New Episode
Alicent Hightower’s actress has been plotting murders long before House of the Dragon came in her way.
House of the Dragon star Olivia Cooke is currently the center of everyone’s attention after the epic show’s highly anticipated second season has finally made it to the screens.
There are still several days until fans get to see whether Alicent will take the whole revenge under her control after her grandson’s murder, but the cruel suspense won’t be that cruel with Cooke’s thrilling 2017 flick that somewhat predicted the actress’ future path of portraying initially quiet yet ruthless characters.
Also starring Anya Taylor-Joy, a black comedy Thoroughbreds follows two separated childhood friends, Lily and Amanda, who, after years spent away from each other, rekindle their friendship despite huge differences that threaten to tear them apart again.
Lily, portrayed by Taylor-Joy, has now turned into a posh upper-class high school student, though she still struggles with family problems forced to live with her stepfather whom she hates. Olivia Cooke’s Amanda, in her turn, developed some specific attitude towards things surrounding her that eventually made her a social outcast.
Reunited by a mere accident, Lily and Amanda come up with a plan that will solve all problems for both of them, but it will require them to kill Lily’s stepfather Mark.
Released in theaters back in 2017, Thoroughbreds wasn’t a great success in the box office, garnering around $3 million against its initial $5 million budget, yet it still got numerous accolades from both critics and viewers.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie holds scores of 88% and 68% respectively, with most reviews praising Taylor-Joy and Cooke’s performances and an ambitious screenplay.
Thoroughbreds is currently available to stream on Hulu, Prime Video, Fandango at Home and Apple TV.
