One of these loopers is Joe, played by both Joseph Gordon-Levitt as his younger version from 2044 and Bruce Willis as the future version from 2074. The universes collapse when a man called the Rainmaker orders the assassination of all loopers. Joe does not seem to think much of this until his future self arrives without a mask.

Now he must do whatever it takes to save himself, and it seems there's only one way to do it. The movie has been described as a highly thought-provoking intellectual piece that has so many crazy ideas, but somehow makes them all work perfectly.
