'Obi-Wan Kenobi's Low Budget Ruined the Show For Star Wars Fans
The new 'Star Wars' shows from Disney are exposed to a great deal of criticism, but 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' is currently weathering a true storm – as well as plenty of accolades.

It seems that 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' could use some more money poured into production, as some films feel like they are watching a fan film rather than a full-blown Disney TV series about one of the most beloved characters.
Particularly, what some fans deemed to be aftermath of low budget was visible in the scene where Obi-Wan and Darth Vader have a face-off – a painful rematch following their clash on Mustafar that was shown in the prequel trilogy.
However, the prequels appeared to have been much more epic and compelling, fans argue. For instance, one of the most important parts was music, with many people still remembering the epic score by John Williams that accompanied the fight between Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan in the prequels. What 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' offers, fans argue, sounds more like a "dollar store version" of John Williams.
"It makes Kenobi look like a fan film," one fan said on YouTube. They went on to criticise the camera movement as "unmotivated", especially compared to the prequel trilogy.
The storyline seems to be in need of more work as well, according to fans. Another user argued that in the prequel movies, Obi-Wan had a clear purpose, and Vader was consumed by hate; but in the show, Anakin seems to be in a "business as usual" mode, while Kenobi seems "weaker" and borderline pathetic.
"This feels so watered down of what this should have been," the fan continued.
Ever since Disney took over the Star Wars franchise, many OG fans have shown discontent about what the universe has become. Despite the big range of new Star Wars products, the new shows and movies seem to be lacking in quality, some fans lament, and even the fact that new content continues to arrive does not make it better.
'Obi-Wan Kenobi' is streaming on Disney Plus since May 27, and, despite the criticism, it has already become the most-watched Disney Plus original series premiere to date.
