'Obi-Wan Kenobi' Director Responds To Possibility Of Liam Neeson's Qui-Gon Jinn Return
The upcoming Disney+ series centered on Ewan McGregor's Jedi-master will bring back many beloved Star Wars characters, including Hayden Christensen's Darth Vader. But will Liam Neeson's Qui-Gon Jinn return?
According to Neeson's recent statements, he is certainly not in the series. But, given current Disney 's Easter eggs tradition and secretive production climate, perhaps he's just teasing his fans, eager for the return of their favorite character. Given Kenobi and Jinn's chemistry in 'Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace', many fans are hoping for them to reunite on the set of 'Obi-Wan Kenobi '.
Speaking to Total Film (via Games Radar), series director Deborah Chow gave a coy update on Neeson's possible involvement. Without talking about Jinn's appearance per se, she said that fans will certainly meet some unexpected characters on Kenobi's journey through a galaxy far, far away.
"There's going to be different people that come into his life. One of the things I was trying to do with this series was to have the legacy, and who is important in Obi-Wan's life, and to also have some new characters. So, it's going to be a mixture of the two. But I do think there are some surprises to come," Chow said.
Fans, of course, are looking forward to seeing Neeson swing the lightsaber again, perhaps even in his own series.
'Obi-Wan Kenobi' will premiere on Disney + on May 27, 2022.
