There were no chances to make anything better out of a franchise than what’s already been done.

Despite a similar premise of many people (and aliens) with supernatural powers coming together to use them for the greater good, not all MCU superhero teams are the same.

If anything, fans believe they cater to different parts of the fandom, with the Avengers being more straightforward, a golden standard for superhero movies, the Guardians of the Galaxy being a more fun and rebellious example, and the X-Men being more relationship-focused.

Depending on what you enjoy more in a movie, you'll probably find a perfect franchise for you.

Which franchise do you prefer?

However, many viewers feel that X-Men is criminally underrated for what it is, and could attract even more fans and attention with a proper build-up. Some people think the franchise would benefit from a series of solo films for each of the characters involved before bringing them together as a team.

While this approach worked for Avengers, it wouldn't be exactly the same for X-Men because it wouldn't have the same results. The difference between X-Men and Avengers lies in the principle by which their team was formed: while X-Men were specifically gathered to become a team, Avengers were very, very prominent individuals before.

No matter how much the MCU loves expanding the canon and creating its own versions of how events went in the comics, making characters as individualistic as the Avengers were would kill the only idea, the premise of the original story.

Would that help make more money at the box office? Could that be a more profitable approach to storytelling that Marvel could explore in the future if they were to reboot the franchise? Yes, definitely. But would it be worth ruining the idea behind the story for a quick buck? That's a question for further discussion.

As discouraging as it may sound, there is very little chance for Marvel to actually replicate the success that Avengers brought to the studio. What they need to focus on instead is not losing everything they have built.

If you are feeling nostalgic and want to revisit the X-Men film series, you can stream them in order on Disney Plus.
