Hardly anyone believes that a new project in the Witcher universe would turn out to be anything decent.

Apparently, neither the scandals surrounding Henry Cavill 's departure from The Witcher, nor the record-low ratings of the sequel, The Witcher: Blood Origin, can stop Netflix from expanding this universe.

A few months ago, there were rumors of plans for another prequel, tentatively titled The Rats.

Now it is reported by CBR that the production of the new project has already begun, and the actors are already in South Africa, where the filming will take place.

The series tells the story of a gang of teenage thieves who must use all of their skills to pull off a massive heist against the most dangerous criminal gang in the kingdom.

Despite the fact that little is known about the series so far, many fans are already more than skeptical.

Both projects in the Witcher universe have either been mired in scandals or failed miserably, and many have lost hope that the new project will even be worthy.

Fans of The Witcher decided to boycott the series after it was announced that lead actor Henry Cavill was leaving the project.

The fans were outraged by the replacement of Cavill with Liam Hemsworth.

The replacement of Cavill with Hemsworth was called "the biggest mistake in the history of television series" by viewers.

The third season of The Witcher will be released on June 29th and this is the last season with Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Liam will take his place starting with the fourth season.

As for the prequel The Witcher: Blood Origin, it seems that it was supposed to be the nail in the coffin of Netflix's attempt to adapt Andrzej Sapkowski's universe.

The incredibly low popularity was influenced by the harsh criticism from fans, who literally destroyed the series.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the series had only 7% of positive reviews immediately after its release – this is the worst project in the history of Netflix in terms of user ratings.

Now the rating has risen to 13%, which is also not very encouraging.
