The series showrunner is confident, apparently.

While the army of Henry Cavill 's fans is still in shock over his departure from Netflix 's The Witcher series for which he portrayed Geralt of Rivia, there seems to be one person who does not care. That person is Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, the show's producer, who has recently admitted in her interview with Collider that Season 4 of the show will be just fantastic.

"Honestly, I'm really excited for Witcher Season 4. I think it's going to be fantastic. I can't wait to get started," she said.

Hissrich and the series writer Declan de Barra were speaking ahead of the release of The Witcher: Blood Origin, which is the prequel to the original show. It shows the world before the Conjunction of the Spheres, when the ancient elven civilization was in full blossom. The events take place 12 centuries before Geralt was born. It also tells the story of the first witcher.

Previously, Hissrich was pretty straightforward about Liam Hemsworth taking over from Henry Cavill. In an exclusive interview with GamesRadar+, The Witcher producer said that she had no doubts that Hemsworth will be capable to take over from Cavill and that the series' fans will love it.

"I think that it's just a new chapter for us. And I think new chapters bring new energy and that people will find things to love," said Hissrich sharing her excitement.

However, she said nothing about why Cavill left the project in first place. According to rumors, it was The Witcher production team's unwillingness to follow Andrzej Sapkowski's books, which mean a lot for Cavill. Former members of the writers' team such as Beau DeMayo accused his ex-colleagues of mocking the source material. It has been reported that the atmosphere forced Cavill to step down as Geralt because he was sick and tired of fighting his way through this mess.

When asked by Collider if there'll be more The Witcher spinoffs and prequels Lauren Hissrich said that the possibilities were endless but it would depend on the series' fans.

"I think the stories that we have in our back pockets, the things that Sapkowski sets out for us that I will never be able to cover in the main Witcher series," she said adding that "it really depends on the continued appetite for fans to show up and see more of these stories."

De Barra has endorsed Hissrich saying that this model perfectly fits into Sapkowski's world calling the author "the king of little, short, contained stories that feed the [The Witcher's] world." At the same time the stories are sort of stand-alone and "exist on their own." He believes the spinoffs and side shows would be great for The Witcher universe.
