Newest Netflix's One Piece Update Has Fans Hoping for Trafalgar Law
This character can easily make season 2 even better than the first.
Adapting One Piece was a risky move, but thanks to talented people who worked on the show under the guidance of the creator of the original manga series, Eiichiro Oda, the first season of the Netflix adaptation of One Piece was well-received by both critics and audiences alike.
Netflix gave the green light for season 2 on September 14, even though the show had only been on the streaming platform for a little over two weeks.
Right now, there's not much information out there about what's in store for season 2, but one of the creators might have dropped a hint about an intriguing character who might show up.
Matt Owens, the co-showrunner, writer and executive producer of the show, participated in a Q&A on Reddit. When a user asked about characters from the distant future of the series that he'd be thrilled to adapt, Owens didn't hesitate to express his enthusiasm for Trafalgar Law.
"I really want to get to Law. I love that broody boy so much," Owens said.
For those who might not be familiar, Trafalgar D. Water Law, often just called Trafalgar Law, is a standout character from the One Piece universe. He's also known as the Surgeon of Death. He is the captain and doctor of the Heart Pirates.
Originating from North Blue, Law is one of the twelve pirates dubbed the Worst Generation. He's had quite the journey, from being one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea to allying with the Straw Hat Pirates. Like many pirates, Law dreams of finding the legendary treasure, One Piece.
Why is this exciting? Well, Law is a character with a rich backstory and a personality that oscillates between being broody and strategic. His interactions with the Straw Hat Pirates, especially Luffy, have been some of the most memorable moments in the series.
Knowing that the creators are excited about bringing him to the screen makes us hopeful for a portrayal that does justice to this beloved character. With such a tease from Owens, fans are now more eager than ever to see how Netflix's adaptation will bring Trafalgar Law to life.
