Never Have I Ever Wasted This Major Character For No Reason
There could have been another amazing story to tell.
Never Have I Ever is the perfect teen comedy series. It has it all: the most engaging characters, the not-so-primitive plot, and lots of little interesting storylines and plot twists.
Throughout its 4 seasons, the show managed to tell us so many stories about so many people that it was sometimes hard to keep track. Not only was Devi in the spotlight, but so were many of her friends, including Fabiola, Eleanor, Paxton and Ben.
But there was another character who really deserved as much screen time as the others got. Yes, it is Aneesa.
Introduced in season 2, she actually had a huge impact on the audience as well as the characters themselves.
Aneesa was considered one of the best characters in the whole show and actually had a lot of future potential.
But somehow towards the end of season 3 there were almost no scenes with her left. And the fans were really upset about that.
“I was honestly surprised that the writers didn’t explore how it is to be queer in a Muslim household. And they really did not mention her eating disorder this season at all. I forgot that Aneesa even had an eating disorder because it wasn’t mentioned at all this season! That’s crazy because it was such a big part of season 2,” Redditor Embarrassed_Fix_7161 said.
There was a hope that something would change in season 4, but unfortunately that never happened.
Instead, her character was almost written off the show. She only appeared in several insignificant moments, bringing nothing to the show.
It seems that the writers just didn't know what to do with her, so they decided to do nothing and completely waste her character in the final season.
But there is good news in all of this. Reddit fans mentioned that the reason she was absent from the show was because she was actually busy with other projects. Well, if that's true, good for her!
