Are you up for the scheme of a lifetime?

There is no shortage of crime dramas on television these days. With some focusing more on the criminals and others on the law enforcement heroes who catch them, there are plenty of shows to watch if you love the genre. Every now and then, however, a new show comes along that stands out from the rest.

Coming to Netflix in February, Baby Bandito is the show from Chile that snuck into the streamer's top 5 worldwide and quickly made a name for itself. What is the show about and should you watch it? Here's everything you need to know about Baby Bandito.

Is Baby Bandito Good?

Inspired by the 2014 Santiago airport robbery, Baby Bandito focuses on the journey that led Kevin Tapia, the show's protagonist, who struggled with a lack of money and no way to pay for his education, to become 'Il Baby Bandito,' as he is known in Europe.

Even though the series is mostly fictional, viewers are easily lured in by the promise of a big heist, and they get exactly what they're looking for. Forced to fight for his survival after his father is sent to prison and his mother is left with nothing at home, Kevin eventually finds out about the plan of the biggest heist and becomes enraptured by it.

As many have noticed, the show bears some similarities to another Netflix hit, Money Heist, which ran for five seasons from 2017 to 2021. Baby Bandito, however, takes the subject matter a bit less seriously. Given that the show's main characters are teenagers bound together by reckless love and a series of bad decisions, it's hard to take it the same way.

Baby Bandito will be a perfect show for those who love coming-of-age stories, but want something a little more action-packed and spicy than the sweet romance series. The big heist and the way it changes the main character to grow into his new criminal persona is what drives the season and makes the show so compelling.

Whether you liked Money Heist or not, Baby Bandito is worth checking out if you love crime dramas and aren’t afraid of subtitles. The show is available to stream on Netflix.
