30 Days of Night (2007)
The tiny town of Barrow, Alaska is so far north that during the dead of winter the sun doesn't even come up over the horizon. Unfortunately for the town and its Sheriff (Josh Hartnett), that means that when vampires descend on Barrow they have to survive until daybreak… an entire month away.

Trivia: The vampire language was created for the film with the help of a linguistics professor from the University of Auckland.
Trapped (2002)
Will (Stuart Townsend) and Karen (Charlize Theron ) are held hostage and their daughter is abducted in this race-against-the-clock thriller. Their daughter has asthma, and Will and Karen must find a way to pay her ransom before her medical condition proves fatal. Meanwhile, they begin to suspect that there is a hidden motive behind the kidnapping.

Trivia: The movie was originally supposed to be called 24 Hours, but producers were afraid that it would be confused with the Fox TV show 24.
It's Complicated (2009)
Middle aged Jane (a predictably delightful Meryl Streep ) was jilted by her ex-husband, who left her for a much younger model. But when Jane starts to sleep with her husband on the sly, she realizes that she is now 'the other woman'. Meanwhile, she starts to be wooed by a sweet architect (Steve Martin).

Trivia: It's Complicated is a very tame movie for its R Rating. Rumour has it that the rating came because the characters casually smoke pot.
Training Day (2001)
Veteran police officer Alonzo (Denzel Washington) escorts rookie police officer Jake (Ethan Hawke) for his first day on a tough inner-city narcotics beat. In the space of 24 hours, Jake gets a horrific lesson in Alonzo's style of crime fighting – which is illegal, but undeniably effective.

Mystic River (2003)
Jimmy (Sean Penn), Dave (Tim Robbins), and Sean (Kevin Bacon) have been friends since childhood. When Jimmy's daughter is murdered, homicide detective Sean leads the investigation – and Dave is a key witness. When he starts to suspect one of his friends, ex-con Jimmy considers taking the law into his own hands.

School of Rock (2003)
On the lighter side of the spectrum we have this classic Jack Black comedy. Black plays a deadbeat musician desperate for cash, so he poses as a substitute teacher at an elite private elementary school. When he hears how talented his uptight students are, he comes up with a plan to win cash at an upcoming Battle of the Bands.

Dawn of the Dead (2004)
Zack Snyder's remake of George A. Romero's classic zombie flick was his first major movie. It's got all the visual flair you'd expect from Snyder, who tells the story of a small group of survivors banding together to fend off a zombie horde.

The Holiday (2006)
