NCIS: Tony & Ziva Bosses Totally Missed the Point With Spinoff Title
The actors’ choice is way more fitting.
Even though everything about the NCIS reunion of the franchise's most beloved couple couldn't have been more perfect, there are still things that make fans a little worried about how the show will be brought to life. Luckily, seeing Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly's hands-on involvement in the production gives many fans the reassurance they need.
Right now, not much is known about the show, other than the premise of Tony and Ziva reuniting in Europe, the fact that it will air on Paramount Plus, and the simple title, NCIS: Tony & Ziva. Unfortunately for fans, the title itself isn't as revealing as it could have been, according to the show's stars.
What NCIS: Tony & Ziva Is About?
While it's easy to guess that the show will follow the couple's life after they leave NCIS to reunite in Europe, that's as much as the title can offer. Everything else is being kept under wraps for now, as the show hasn't even started filming yet. However, to keep the fans busy with theories and satisfied with new content, the actors have been teasing a few details.
Speaking at the Monte Carlo press event on Saturday, De Pablo shared the alternate title she and her co-star came up with on set, and how it captures the essence of the show much better than the original. The title in question is NCIS: Trust No One.
“I think the idea of trust, and the idea of how this relationship moves forward is something that was intriguing to us as actors. We’re trying to address the idea of trust and we’re trying to address how they move forward parenting together with this child and trying to make things work and having a lot of challenges thrown at them,” she said.
Trust will be a central theme not only for Tony and Ziva themselves, who were once unstoppable partners but then got caught up in life's struggles and ended up in a complicated relationship, but also for their young daughter, Tali. After years of thinking her mother was dead, accepting her back may take a lot of time.
What fans can be sure of is that NCIS: Tony & Ziva won't lack for drama and will bring back the iconic chemistry between Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly that captured the hearts of viewers the first time around. If you are curious to see what the show has to offer, be sure to keep an eye out for the premiere day announcement.
