It feels like they're trying to hint at something.

It's incredibly rare for the show to hit a milestone of 450 episodes. NCIS has been running since 2003, which makes this year a 20 years anniversary. What's even harder than keeping the show running for 20 years is keeping fans satisfied with the quality of the writing.

Seems like NCIS showrunners hit the jackpot with both of those.

The fanbase is still as active as ever, coming up with fan theories, supporting their favorite cast members in other projects, and keeping the ratings for the show relatively high (considering how long it's been around for). But not everyone is so optimistic. Like all good things in life, good shows also have to end at some point, and many NCIS fans fear that it may happen to it sooner than later.

With so many characters coming in and going out of the show, it would be easy for NCIS writers to lose some parts of the fanbase. And how many navy crime stories can you really think of without getting repetitive?

Of course, you can take a hint of the 450th episode being focused on the retirement community with a pinch of salt, especially knowing that it was recently renewed for the 21st season. As CBS announced, they're giving a green light to NCIS Season 21, as well as NCIS: Hawaii. NCIS: Los Angeles, however, will not come back after Season 14.

The network allegedly decided to cancel the show to cut their expenses, even though no official statements confirmed that.

Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, has not spoken about the reasons behind the sudden cancellation of NCIA: Los Angeles, but promised to "deliver an end to the series that is both satisfying and does justice to these beloved characters."

It's not that usual for the original TV show to outlive its spinoffs but it seems like NCIS is doing just fine! Who knows, maybe we will be here to celebrate another milestone of 500 episodes and laugh off this silly coincidence together.
