Years spent as an on-screen scientist did their job.

Though nothing like this has ever been predicted for NCIS ’ future seasons, some of the show’s actors don’t shy away from taking it all further and dwelling on how exactly they’d like to see their characters die when their time comes.

It’s obviously a quite weird thing to ask, since NCIS is bringing most of its lead characters back for quite some time, yet it still didn’t appear to be that weird for two actors and their perfectly prepared answers, one of which is pretty clear proof of that particular character’s scientific take on his whole life.

It didn’t take long for NCIS actor Brian Dietzen, who in the show portrays Jimmy Palmer, the Doctor and the Chief Medical Examiner for the MCRT, to come up with his own perfect version of the character’s death.

According to the actor, Jimmy’s passing should have some kind of tragic connection to his work as a scientist, which is why dying of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) might be a good option.

Dietzen explained that “having a character come down with ALS and seeing that progression over time, especially for someone who's a scientist, who's a doctor, whose control of his physical faculties and trying to cover it up over the course of time, but his mind still works until he finally passes, is something that, I mean, it's a terrible disease.”

Jimmy suffering from such a disease would in fact turn out to be a major heartbreaking plot twist, as he would gradually lose strength in all of his vital organs, coming closer to death, and thus eventually being forced to quit the MCRT and leave behind the job he’s always loved so much.

In contrast, Dietzen’s co-star Wilmer Walderrama aka NCIS Special Agent Nick Torres has a completely different vision of his character’s passing at some point.

As the actor revealed, ideally he would love to see Nick die “defending my family somehow, just in a storm of bullets, I just see a storm of bullets just washing over me, just dying heroically with violins in the background and the rain is pouring.”

While both actors seem to be pretty much prepared for anything that would come in their characters’ way, nothing of that is likely to happen anytime soon, as both Dietzen and Walderrama are set to reprise their roles on NCIS for quite some time in the future.

The actors will also be back to the show in its upcoming season 22, which will be dropped on CBS this fall.
