Most Intense Climactic Movie Fights That Will Give You Chills, Ranked
These movies have some of the greatest and most satisfying final battles that will keep you glued to the screen.
Creating a memorable climax for the movie is an art in itself, and spicing it up with an exciting standoff between the hero and the villain is a common practice.
But making it feel like a high-stakes duel where both sides are equally strong is not as easy as it seems.
These five movies did a great job of creating the most memorable and epic final fights that kept viewers on the edge of their seats.
5. Neo vs. Agent Smith (The Matrix Revolutions)
While their standoff at the end of the first movie is pretty cool, the Wachowskis turned up the drama at the end of the third movie.
Although the (then) final part of the trilogy got a mixed reception from fans and critics, this fight in the pouring rain, accompanied by a great epic soundtrack, is easily one of the most memorable parts of the whole franchise.
4. Anakin vs. Obi-Wan (Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith)
Just like the Matrix movies after the first one, the Star Wars prequel trilogy received a lot of criticism at the time.
But one of the aspects that everyone agreed was great was the lightsaber duels, and the final confrontation between the master and his former apprentice was breathtaking.
John Williams' killer soundtrack added to the excitement as two equally skilled Jedi battled it out on the lava fields of Mustafar.
3. Ozymandias vs. Everyone (Watchmen)
The fact that the heroes lost this fight before it even started makes it even more brutal.
As they try to stop Adrian Veidt from carrying out his plan, the audience is treated to a tense confrontation that our protagonists narrowly win.
And then Veidt makes the shocking revelation that they were too late all along.
2. Steel Mill Fight (Terminator 2: Judgment Day)
The final confrontation with the deadly T-1000 has everything a moviegoer could want.
From the suspenseful moments when the Terminator transforms into Sarah Connor to trick John, or when he seemingly destroys the beloved T-800, to some great special effects that still hold up well after all these years.
Terminator 2 has definitely earned its status as one of the best sequels of all time for a reason.
1. The Bride vs. O-Ren Ishii (Kill Bill: Volume 1)
The last third of Quentin Tarantino 's cult classic is one giant climactic battle. First The Bride confronts Crazy 88 in a spectacularly bloody and well choreographed fight, then she eliminates the deadly Gogo Yubari.
Finally, she confronts O-Ren in a beautiful snowy landscape, leading to a quick and intense swordfight. A beautiful ending to a great movie.
