If you are love movies as much as you love video games, here are some things you should check out (as well as those you might want to steer clear of).

When it comes to movie adaptations of video games, we've seen our fair share of flops while some movies end up being loved and praised. Let's look back at some of the best and the worst video game movies.

Let's start with something positive here. These movies are considered decent video game adaptations:

3. The Resident Evil (2002)

The Resident Evil movie franchise includes a bunch of movies, but fans recommend the original 2002 film as the best of the series.

It highlights the film's focus on action over complex lore. And can't we all agree that Milla Jovovich's performance as Alice is a spot-on.

2. Mortal Kombat (1995)

The 1995 Mortal Kombat movie is totally campy and exciting, but also kind of dumb and brilliant at the same time. For many fans it's hands down the best video game movie ever made.

Viewers seem to appreciate the old adaptation more than the modern movies of the franchise.

1. Detective Pikachu (2019)

Detective Pikachu is a truly excellent film. Despite being marketed towards families, it incorporates classic noir elements and showcases some seriously impressive cinematography.

The visuals are great in the film, and Ryan Reynolds as the voice of Pickachu just makes you fall in love with the character.

Now buckle up, these movies made video games fans absolutely sick:

3. Hitman: Agent 47 (2015)

Unfortunately, despite the popularity of the franchise, Hitman: Agent 47 failed to impress both critics and fans. The film was heavily criticized for its poor script, direction, visuals, and performances.

2. BloodRayne (2005)

Despite being based on a popular video game series, BloodRayne, directed by Uwe Boll, was ranked as the 47th worst film of the 2000s on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 4% rating. The movie was met with criticism from the audiences as well.

1. Postal (2007)

Uwe Boll just owns this list. Postal is a game series that is arguably the most controversial one. The movie, however, lacked any traits that might make it successful.

It's no wonder the film was nominated for three Golden Raspberry Awards.
