Morgan Stark Can't Actually Become New Iron Man – Here's Why
At least not immediately.
With Riri Williams making her debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as Ironheart, many fans seem to be taking issue with her as a potential Iron Man replacement in the MCU. The legacy of Tony Stark, according to them, is to be cherished by someone who was actually close to the deceased superhero — and who if not his own daughter is the perfect candidate for that?
Well, things are in fact a bit more complicated.
We saw Morgan Stark in Avengers: Endgame, and, to be fair, the movie did give a hint that Tony's daughter might be into tech and superhero stuff as she snatches a helmet from one of the suits ( later to be worn by Pepper Potts) and plays with it. However, it might simply be too early for Morgan to even consider taking her father's place.
In Endgame, Morgan was around four. Considering that the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever are likely to take place just after Endgame, she is still a child. Unless there is a specific version of the Iron Man suit for five-year-olds, it's quite impossible for her to inherit her father's superhero identity just yet.
Besides, it is unknown whether an older Morgan has abilities and knowledge necessary to become Iron Man. We know for sure that Riri Williams is smart enough to build an Iron Man suit, but it remains to be seen whether Morgan is even into that kind of stuff.
Still, fans are rallying for Morgan Stark to return — if not as the next Iron Man, then simply as someone to carry on with the Stark legacy. In fact, Morgan's possible return in the upcoming Rhodey movie Armor Wars was heavily rumored on Twitter, but these rumors are yet to receive any kind of official confirmation.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to premiere on November 11, 2022. Riri Williams will make her first official appearance in the MCU in the movie, later returning in her solo Disney Plus series Ironheart.
