A series created by one of the writers of The Leftovers that will not let you down.

Adapted from the novel of the same name about how 98% of the population tries to live in a world from which the rest of the people have suddenly disappeared, The Leftovers is a unique show in many ways. If the first season was criticized for selling viewers yet another Lost, the second season placed the show in the category of "the best thing on TV right now," and the final season forced the viewers to recognize its obvious greatness.

However, the love from critics and viewers did not translate into a large number of awards – during the entire run, the show received only one nomination for a major award.

This has not stopped The Leftovers from gaining popularity and finding its audience, which continues to grow even seven years after the finale. If you've watched The Leftovers a hundred times and have been looking for something similar, you've just found a show that talks about the world after a global catastrophe.

Station Eleven is an adaptation of Emily St. John Mandel's bestselling novel. The original book can hardly be called a breakthrough for the genre, but it managed to capture the details of the old world that we have accepted as boring everyday life: airplanes and electricity, telephones and cars, soft beds and books.

On the pages of Station Eleven, the past became a fleeting dream while in real life the main characters were condemned to cold, hunger, and nostalgic anguish.

What is Station Eleven About?

Several years after a mysterious flu epidemic, only a small portion of the population survived. Some settled in small towns and tried to build a new society, some turned into marauders, and others, like Kirsten and her friends, decided to preserve the remnants of their former culture by traveling across Canada with a troupe of actors performing Shakespearean plays.

Year after year, the troupe moved through the settlements, educating the few who would listen about the love of Romeo and Juliet in the midst of total hell, but one day everything changed. The characters are pursued by a Prophet, the leader of a cult willing to do anything to establish his own justice in the new post-apocalyptic world.

Station Eleven is a Gripping Drama With an Intricate Plot

However, the plot of Station Eleven begins long before these events. The starting point is the play King Lear: one of the first to be killed by the virus is the lead actor, movie star Arthur Leander. Station Eleven takes place in different time periods and talks about several people at once, many of whom were somehow connected to Arthur.

All the characters, who miraculously survived in the chaotic world of the future, unexpectedly appear to the viewer not as random strangers, but as people united by a series of common stories. The twisted script comes from Patrick Sommerville, creator of the series Maniac and one of the writers of The Leftovers. So Station Eleven can be considered the heir to The Leftovers in every sense of the word.
