Mind-blowing Connection Between Encanto and Luca We Never Noticed
Let's talk about Bruno.
Pixar and Disney animated movies always have something about them that inspires fan theories, but how about one that reveals a connection between the two biggest hits of 2021?
Yes, we're talking about Disney's Encanto and Pixar's Luca. A Reddit theory has pointed to a certain name that can be heard in both, and that name is Bruno.
In Encanto, Bruno is one of the Madrigal siblings who was exiled because of his prophecies — to the point where everyone made up a song about how no one should talk about him.
Well, Pixar's Luca pretty much echoes the theme, but in this movie, the main characters struggle to keep the mysterious "Bruno" quiet by constantly telling themselves "Silencio, Bruno!" to silence the voice that tells them that nothing good will come of their efforts.
Redditor exper-626- has pointed out that the two films may be referring to the same Bruno. Encanto is set in the early 20th century, just as the events of Luca seem to take place in Italy in the mid to late 1900s. The Spaniards' obsession with Bruno and his eerie prophecies, the theory goes, followed them when they left Colombia — and ended up in Italy, where Bruno had turned into some sort of superstition.
"As the Spaniards left Columbia word of Bruno spread with them over to Europe and turned into an old wives tale that spreads and becomes misconstrued as tall tales tend to. Eventually this old story of Bruno is told to Alberto by his father and he believes it to be the voice in your head [...] that tells you when something could go wrong," the Redditor explained.
The connection is so believable that you want to believe it, even if the creators at Pixar and Disney had no idea about it and never planned anything like it. The only sad thing about this theory is that Bruno's reputation was apparently never cleared up, even though he and his family finally made peace and everyone understood that his prophecies were not all that bad.
