MCU Drops the Ball with New Ant-Man 3 Update
Looks like one publication inadvertently ruined all of Marvel's attempts to create suspense about the events of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
The movie that will start Phase 5 of the MCU is set for release in February 2023 and has many MCU fans on pins and needles about the fate of its lead character, the beloved Avenger, Scott Lang.
The very first trailer of the movie gave the MCU fans food for thought. It confirmed the introduction of Marvel's next Big Bad, Kang the Conqueror, and hinted at his vast experience in superhero killing.
This and the fact that Kang will surely be back for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty left many Ant-Man fans concerned about the life of the beloved Avenger. After all, murdering a lead character would be a perfect introduction for a major supervillain.
"Gotta build Kang as a real threat if he's gonna be the villain of the next Avengers movie," one of the MCU fans commented on the rumors about Ant-Man dying in the next franchise installment.
This rumor was not denied by the cast and crew of Ant-Man 3. When asked by Jimmy Kimmel whether there was a possibility of Kang killing Scott, Jonathan Majors, the actor behind Kang, simply said, "we'll see."
Looks Like The Flash Won't Be a Disaster After All, Despite Its Budget Skyrocketing
However, a recent report by The Hollywood Reporter ruined any illusion of high stakes Marvel tried to build around the possible death of Ant-Man. The irony is that the report is not directly connected with the MCU. It features this year's most powerful women in entertainment. One of these women is Deborah Klein, a lawyer representing two MCU stars, Samuel L. Jackson playing Nick Fury and Ant-Man's Paul Rudd.
"Klein's ever-prolific client Samuel L. Jackson continues his Marvel run with Secret Invasion and The Marvels, as does Paul Rudd with more Ant-Man and Avengers," the report states.
These words confirm that Rudd will appear in the next Avengers movie which means Ant-Man fans can relax and go watch Quantumania confident the beloved character will definitely survive the clash with Kang the Conqueror.
Love and Thunder Oscar Campaign? Sounds Like a Joke, But Here We Are
However, the same can't be said about other characters of the Ant-man franchise.
"Hank and Janet can easily be killed off in the movie over Scott. Hank and Janet being killed establishes Kang as a threat, it also gets Scott to potentially take being a hero more seriously and stop the rumoured egotism he's gained," one of the fans theorized on Reddit.
