The crossover no one expected.

Supernatural and Grey's Anatomy may be the one crossover that no one on earth could have predicted. By premiering at roughly the same time, the shows have attracted large but very different audiences. And while The CW's hit is over, ABC's medical drama is still going strong past its 20-year milestone.

This time around, it's Prime Video that's making the wildest dreams of 2000s TV fans come true with its new action thriller, Countdown. Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming show.

Countdown Amazon Prime Video Cast

Jensen Ackles, who previously partnered with Prime Video on the satirical take on the superhero genre, The Boys, will star in the new series as LAPD officer Mark Meachum, who is recruited by a special group from all branches of law enforcement.

To investigate a daring murder and the sinister plot behind it, the team will have to put aside their differences and work as one. The fate of the entire city of Los Angeles will depend on their ability to come together in time and put their conflicting personalities aside for the better.

In this quest to save humanity, Ackles will be joined by Jessica Camacho, best known for her portrayal of FBI Agent Sophie Foster on Fox's Sleepy Hollow, and Eric Dane, who starred on Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Mark Sloan and Euphoria as Cal Jacobs.

Grey's McSteamy will take on a completely different role this time around, as his character is the Special Agent in Charge who hand-picked everyone on his team, including Ackles' Mark Meachum. The only similarity is that Countdown's Nathan Blythe has just as many chances to captivate viewers with his charisma.

While many fans of Dane may be worried about his involvement in Euphoria, as the show has yet to release its third season, there is no need to worry so far. With Sam Levinson, the creator of the HBO teen hit, still working on the script, the actors have been given the green light to pursue other projects.

Created and directed by One Chicago 's Derek Haas, Countdown doesn't have an official release date yet, but is targeting a 2025 premiere. If you're interested in what happens next, keep an eye out for more news and behind-the-scenes updates.
