Maya Hawke Seems to Be Okay With Robin Dying in 'Stranger Things'
Looks like the 'Stranger Things' fandom can't allow it.
As fans are collectively concerned about the fate of their favorite characters in the upcoming final season of 'Stranger Things ', Maya Hawke, who portrays Robin in the show, has weighed in – and definitely made it worse.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Hawke was surprisingly merciless to her character, saying that she would not mind seeing Robin's heroic death.
"I would love to die and get my hero's moment. I'd love to die with honor, as any actor would. But I love the way that the Duffer Brothers love their actors. The reason that they write so beautifully for me and for everyone else is because they fall in love with their actors and their characters, and they don't want to kill them," the actress revealed.
However, she was quick to offer her support for a potential spinoff with Joe Keery's Steve Harrington, saying that she "would do anything" if she got such a chance. According to her, Steve and Robin could simply "go to New York and [be] just partying in the clubs and figuring [their] sh** out."
But even though Hawke seems to be okay with her character potentially dying in season 5, 'Stranger Things' fans are not. She has been one of the fan favorites throughout several seasons, and the fact that she managed to get through a couple of them and not get killed off in the very season she was introduced in seems to be bringing hope to many people.
Clearly, not every likable character gets such a chance – for instance, Joseph Quinn 's Eddie Munson is still being mourned by fans, with some of the most devoted ones rallying for the Duffer brothers to bring him back.
With regards to Hawke's Robin, many people are ready to defend her until the last moment – not least due to some of the fans shipping her with Nancy or rooting for the yet-to-be-developed love story with Vicky.
'Stranger Things' will come to a conclusion with its fifth season. The writing for it is currently underway, but the premiere date is yet to be scheduled.
