Matt Smith’s 100%-Rated Brand New Horror Is Coming to Theatres in July
Sinister family secrets just won’t let him go.
House of the Dragon ’s second season isn’t the only arrival of this summer that will feature Matt Smith fighting his own demons.
Apart from his role as Daemon Targaryen that is getting more and more of importance with every new episode dropped each Sunday, the actor will soon come back to the screen as yet another family man, but this time the supernatural is prevailing.
The upcoming horror movie is still a month away from hitting cinemas in the US, though it’s already landed a quite promising critical score.
Based on Andrew Michael Hurley’s 2019 novel of the same name, Starve Acre stars Matt Smith and Morfydd Clark as Richard and Juliette Willoughby, a young married couple whose serene life in the Yorkshire countryside is forever gone after the tragic death of their little son.
Unable to stay in the same place where they saw their child die, Richard and Juliette move to the former’s family home, Starve Acre, but being away from their own house that brought them only grief doesn’t help either and even seems to aggravate the whole situation.
Juliette suddenly expresses her big interest in spiritualism, making an attempt to reconnect with her deceased son, while Richard dives deeper into local legends unveiling the sinister place’s darkest secrets.
To-date Starve Acre holds an impressive score of 100% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, though things may change soon since the movie hasn’t yet arrived to theaters and the current overall review is based on only 7 opinions.
The audience score is also yet to be determined, but the film’s successful start ahead of its worldwide premiere already looks pretty promising for its future theatrical run.
Starve Acre is set to be released in the US on July 26 and in the UK on September 6.
