Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's Random Musicals Are There For a Reason (Yes, We're Also Shocked)
Be prepared: something big may be about to happen to your favorite characters.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has truly found its way into the hearts of thousands of fans. And there is nothing unusual about that.
Well, the Palladinos, as the creators of the show, made sure that their new comedy project would have everything: the well-written characters, the perfect cast to fit them, the great setting and some more.
But there is one unexpected item on this list that has surprisingly added some flavor to the show.
Despite being a comedy-centric show, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel actually has a lot of musical numbers to offer the audience.
Some of them are small, like Midge and Joel's dance scenes, but they got bigger as time went on.
Like the dance scenes in Catskills or Midge's tour with singer Shy Baldwin in season 3. There's also an episode dedicated to the opening night of a Broadway musical in season 4.
But musicals became an even bigger part of the show in season 5.
Episode 4 titled Susan is really like a musical itself. It's actually quite exciting to see that kind of development of the little details that were there at first just to add some atmosphere.
In this episode, Midge becomes the narrator of part of a musical promoting the Private Demolition and Waste Management Association at the Building New York Expo.
She does a great job at first, but soon after her first performance, Midge loses interest and treats it like a burden.
But as it turned out, the fact that so much attention was paid to music in the show is not a coincidence, but a deliberate choice.
One of the creators of the series, Amy Sherman-Palladino, has a successful background in Broadway musicals.
And as she brings more of Broadway in her new show, the actors actually hope there will be The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel musical one day.
Given the success of the show, we wouldn't be surprised to hear an announcement pretty soon!
New episode of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel airs on Prime Video on May 19.
