Marvel's What If...? Season 2 Will Deliver Shocking Surprise with Unpredicted Cameo
We bet you totally forgot about this Marvel character.
Marvel’s What If...?, the animated TV series released on Disney Plus in 2021, provided a unique opportunity to see those “what if” scenarios with the familiar and beloved characters.
It was only a matter of time until the second season was confirmed. Fans are eagerly waiting for the project, and new leaks only raise expectations.
There's been so much talk and so many mixed signals about What If...? season 2. And despite the confusion, merchandise for the show is already sneaking its way into shops, including items that feature one unexpected character.
The recent merchandise leak revealed that we will see Goliath in season 2. We even get a sneak peek at his suit, which is basically a blue and white version of Ant-Man's suit we are all familiar with.
Now, who is Goliath? Goliath is actually an alias used by several characters, but in this context, we're focusing on the version of Goliath that Bill Foster becomes. Initially, he is a biochemist working alongside Hank Pym.
Later, Foster gets his hands on the Pym Particles and figures out how to use them to grow in size, thus transforming into the superhero known as Goliath. This new persona is not only tall (15 to 25 feet), but also super strong.
You will be surprised, but this character has actually appeared in the MCU. Remember Laurence Fishburne, Morpheus from The Matrix? That's him. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he played Bill Foster in Ant-Man and The Wasp.
Good news, he's back. Fishburne has confirmed to Toonado.com that he's reprising his role as Bill in What If...? season 2. Fishburne referred to the character as Giant-Man, but both scoops from insiders, and recently leaked merchandise suggest it will be Goliath.
We're not quite sure what Goliath's story will be like, but it's awesome that Marvel remembers these characters and brings back the original actors to lend their voices.
The release date is still up in the air. Disney Plus teased us a while back saying it was due in "Early 2023", but they've since played it coy, switching it to "Coming Soon."
