Marvel's in Dire Need of New Downey Jr. and Pratt, and Here's the Guy for the Job
With Marvel Universe's complete reboot, it's essential they find someone who will become what Iron Man and Star-Lord used to be, and we think we know the guy.
Marvel's overwhelming popularity got its most important jump boost with the first Iron Man entry.
Kevin Feige even went as far as stating that without Robert Downey Jr., there would've been no Marvel Studios today — and this shows you just how crucial Robert was for the entire Universe's success.
Through the years, Downey Jr.'s Iron Man has remained one of the fans' most beloved characters.
The main ingredients of Iron Man's success were the charisma and wit of Robert. As Feige recalls, the actor helped rewrite many scenes to improve them and kept coming up with incredible improvs on the go.
This made the Iron Man franchise unmatched in terms of popularity, allowing for Marvel Studios' future growth.
Robert Downey Jr. set the first "comedy standard" for Marvel, but not the last.
The latest changes were made after the immense success of Guardians of the Galaxy. Chris Pratt 's comedic genius shined there, and the big Marvel bosses immediately saw the recipe for huge box office returns.
After the first Guardians entry, the following Marvel movies started overflowing with jokes and puns.
Much like Downey Jr. before him, Pratt changed the perspective on what sort of humor should be installed in every MCU film.
Since Guardians Vol. 1, you won't find a Marvel movie without overarching snappy dialogues and banter between the characters. Pratt-like wit flex has become the new standard for all superheroes.
Now, with the upcoming reinvention of the Marvel Universe, the studio needs to find a new role model for this kind of comedic interaction.
Not because Downey Jr. or Pratt's style isn't fun anymore, of course; it's rather due to the fact that the relaunch requires Marvel Studios to adopt a new icon of humor and wit.
We think we know the perfect man for this job: it's Bill Hader. Why, you may ask?
Bill Hader's been famous for his comedy for over two decades now, and his rather unique style definitely suits the purpose of Marvel's reinvention while keeping true to its core.
While quirky and funny, Hader knows exactly how to juggle comedy and drama and make it perfect: just watch his recent Barry series and you'll see what we mean.
Some of the fans are already speculating about what roles Bill Hader could take over in the new Marvel Universe.
He's suggested for both hero (say, Reed Richards) and villain (like Mysterio) roles, but one thing's for sure: if Marvel gives Hader his time to shine in its new Universe, his light has all the chances to guide the future entries much like Downey Jr. and Pratt's did in the recent past.
