While actors of Mark Wahlberg's caliber are free to choose their projects, when they are needed for a certain picture, the funniest methods of persuasion come into play.

Mark Wahlberg's career saw him perform the widest range of roles. One of the funniest movies of his, however, has always been Ted — the wicked comedy about a talking teddy bear and his human buddy.

Ever since it came out in 2012, Ted made Wahlberg instantly recognizable among the remaining 3% of the world's populace who hadn't known him before.

Seth MacFarlane, the man behind Ted, convinced Mark Wahlberg to take part in the movie completely unknowingly. MacFarlane is famous for his animated shows, the most successful of which include Family Guy and American Dad.

It was the former that indirectly caused Wahlberg to want to star in Ted. But how did it happen?

As the actor revealed, the sole reason he agreed to act in Ted was… His caricature in 1999's Family Guy episode!

Mark found the Family Guy mockery of him incredibly accurate and genuine.

In fact, it managed to capture his features so well that ever since first seeing it, Wahlberg decided that one day, he had to work with Seth MacFarlane if he'd get a chance.

This episode, of course, came out a dozen years prior to Wahlberg starring in Ted, but this only highlights Seth MacFarlane's genius.

The image of his caricature self stuck to Mark so much that once he got a call, he had to take up the offer — even after so many years had passed.

Including Wahlberg's mockery in a 1999 Family Guy episode, however, was not the only MacFarlane's seemingly random choice that led to having Mark star in this hilarious comedy.

The thing is, he never planned for Ted to be a live-action in the first place: instead, it was supposed to be an animated series just like his other projects.

Later, Seth reconsidered and decided to create his first live-action movie — and called Mark Wahlberg offering him the main role.

These two coincidental choices resulted in Ted turning out so brilliant… And grossing over $549M worldwide.
